La NSA, National Security Agency ou Agence de Sécurité Nationale, est un organisme américain qui a pris naissance en novembre 1952 sous le règne d' Harry Truman.
Elle a pour but de collecter et analyser toutes formes de communications; aussi bien militaire, gouvernementale que personnelle. Et ce, en utilisant certaines catégories d'outils pour y parvenir, tels que : Internet, radiodiffussion ou encore par toutes autres formes de communication.
Cette entreprise née, qui soit dit en passant, possède un budjet monétaire plus grand que celui de la CIA, se donne particulièrement comme mission d'assurer la sécurité des communications du gouvernement américain.

Les documents sur les OVNIS qui suivent proviennent directement de cette entreprise qu'est la NSA grâce à son alliance avec la FOIA, Freedom Of Information Act. Cette loi toute aussi américaine vise à libérer certaines informations au niveau publique. Elle fût adoptée en 1974 par Gerald Rudolph Ford et est entrée en vigueur depuis 1976. In 1980, NSA was involved in Civil Action No. 80-1562, "Citizens Against Unidentified Flying Objects Secrecy v. National Security Agency". Documents related to that ligitation are marked with "*".
